Pulled Over

Her: Let me tell you what my crazy self did?!
Me: What?!
Her: I forgot to renew my tabs for my license plate on my car...and I got pulled over today! I meant to renew them the month before my birthday but I forgot. I went to the secretary of state the same day to get my tabs and they told me my license was suspended! I've been riding around dirty and I didn't even know it!!
Me: Did they give you a ticket and is your license still suspended?
Her: All I have to do is show that I now have my tabs and the officer said he will dismiss the ticket. Once I paid at the secretary of state my license was reinstated.
Me: WOW!

This true account immediately resonated with me! All I could think was thank God for pulling us over in our lives, or else we wouldn’t know that we were riding around “dirty”. Sometimes we can think we are legit in what we are doing in our every day lives, but God has to reveal those hidden things so they can be dealt with. Often times we have the best intentions yet dirty things get pass us and in us and we need God to pull us over so it can be addressed.

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Romans 7:7

God loves us so much that He will pull us over by bringing the dirty things in our lives to our attention. Yet He does not leave us there. We can trust in the character of God, knowing that He is not showing us things that are dirty in our lives to shame us but instead He does it to make us legit.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us oursins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

Once God shows us, we confess humbly and He cleanses us! Lately God has been showing me some things about me that were shocking and tough at first, but honestly I can say thank You God for pulling me over!!!

So I want to encourage you….don’t despise being pulled over for riding dirty, just trust that we serve a God who died that we may be clean.

Let us take what God shows us to the altar, confess, repent, and let Him work. ~DeHonee

P.S. dirty- slang for illegal 🙂

Love y’all ❤
