Bluetooth Connection

When I unintentionally disconnect my phone from my car’s bluetooth, it’s a challenge to get back connected.

Sometimes I can’t figure out why my phone won’t reconnect but yesterday I was able to see why. I couldn’t connect because I was connected to my bluetooth headphones in my purse/another source. I had to disconnect from my headphones, restart my phone, and begin trying to reconnect. Eventually it connected again.

It’s the same with Jesus. If you’re connected to something else, it’s a challenge to connect to God. If you are connected to your desires apart from Him, it’ll be hard to connect. If you are connected to anything else more than Him, it’s hard to connect.

Sometimes we unintentionally have an idol, similar to those headphones that were hidden in my purse. They stopped me from connecting to my car. Only after not being able to connect did I look for the reason why…it was what I was previously connected to before I got in the car.

The parallel is also significant in relation to the size of the things, the small headphones and the huge car is like our small idols and our big God. My headphones are convenient but can they take me places? No. Can they take other people places? No. Can they last longer than a car? Definitely not. The car can do what the headphones can do and much more.

Our God is a jealous God, a consuming fire Who will not stand beside any other.

For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.
Deuteronomy 4:24 KJV
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Exodus 20:3 KJV

But don’t be dismayed, we can find comfort in the character of our God. He wants to reconnect…
Nevertheless for thy great mercies’ sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God.
Nehemiah 9:31 KJV

As I reconnect to God by getting rid of the idols that God has brought to my attention, I pray that God will reveal the same to you if you are having trouble connecting.

Love ya’ll,
DeHonee

P.S. We can trust God and put down the idol, He can do wayyyyy more.
