Straight from work and still dressed in my uniform, I walk to the door and ring the doorbell…
A cute lady runs to the door and when she recognizes me, she announces to the group of women behind her, “It’s DeHonee!”. They all begin to scream in excitement at the unexpected guest walking in. I was greeted with a genuine warm smile and a hug at the door. When I get to the front of the sanctuary where rehearsal was taking place, one of my sisters declares “I’m not going to jump on you(like she wanted to lol) but i am going to give you a hug!”. My other sister runs and joins the hug and announces, “I feel a group hug coming on”. The rest of the ladies run and join the hug. Before I knew it I was covered by a group of ladies hugging me.
What I should’ve been thinking was, “awwwwwwwwwwwwwww, they love me!!!”. But if I can be completely honest…I was thinking, “Stop, its not that serious, y’all can not be that excited(like y’all haven’t seen me weekly for the last few years) and this is making me feel uncomfortable/embarrassed because of all the attention. Plus y’all are hugging this dirty uniform”. I can explain why I was thinking this later but please allow me to share how this relates to the title of this blog.
God sees us just like the ladies saw me! Not in a dirty uniform but as one who they loved and are always excited to see no matter how many times they have seen me before. It’s called a Love perspective! God sees us in love because He is Love and that is His perspective. So this is the shift…by our sinful nature we have our own perspective which contradicts the perspective of God. We need relationship and enlightening to take on the perspective of God. Then we will have a love perspective, which happens to be the best perspective!
Was it true that I had been at work since 8am and it was now 10pm, which would make my uniform anything but clean after being on planes older than me with hundreds of people? Yes. But the ladies didn’t see that, they saw their sister in Christ who they loved and they weren’t hesitant to cover me with hugs.
Is it true that all have sinned and fallen short and that our sinful nature makes us dirty, dark, and red like crimson(not a good thing). Yes. But God doesn’t see that, He sees His child who He loves and He isn’t hesitant to cover our sins with His love!
So the answer to why I had these thoughts is because I had my goggles of life on i.e. my own perspective which sometimes just catches me off guard. Did I know I wasn’t operating from a love perspective? Not at the time, I wasn’t even paying attention although I knew those thoughts were out of order as soon as i thought them(insert embarrassed emoji). But! What I love most about this story is the example of our relationship with Jesus. Although my sisters have seen me a countless number of times, they were still excited to see me! Although God sees us at ALL times, knows our thoughts from afar off, knew us before we were created in our mother’s womb, knew us before the foundation of the earth, and I can keep going but not without crying(!!!!), He is STILL excited to see us, to hear from us, to see us walking in the sanctuary, and to love us!!
How amazing is that?!?! Not to mention!!!! He RUNS to us to cover us with love!! (Come on nah y’all! Don’t act like that makes ANY sense from a human perspective!)
I am so thankful/grateful that after being covered by the ladies I took a deep breath, released my perspective and took on a love perspective both from the ladies and God.
Yes!!! Jesus!! Another win for the undefeated God we serve!
This is a Love thang! Do you have a Love perspective?!
Can i say another thing???
No matter what….God is still GOD!
❤ Your sister in Christ 🙂
P.S. The flyer shows the lovely ladies that I have the privilege to dance with and to call my sisters! It is also an invite to join us as we “Dance in Expectation”! The event is free! We look forward to seeing you there!
