My sincere desire is to please God with my very existence!
Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Focus on the word give for a minute. We can look at this scripture and see give in two ways. The most common way is God gives us our desires by granting them and the other is God gives us our desires by being the One who created them within us. Both are significant/relevant. We delight ourselves in God and He is pleased to plant His desires in our heart. This makes it God’s responsibility to make them come to pass in the due season of our lives. He gives in both meanings.
Desires are a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen. (Google)
God gives us desires and brings them to pass, so let us be diligent in doing our part by getting in position. Prepare. If we desire to be debt free, we should prepare with budgeting and reaching out to those who we owe to work out a plan. If we desire a new car, we can prepare by getting our license in order and/or taking care of the car we have. If we want a deeper level in God, we can prepare by keeping our temple(body) holy so that the Master would want to dwell deeper in us. If we want to love God with all our mind, heart, soul, and strength, it’s a great idea to prepare by spending significant time with the One we long for!
Side note-God I ask that you reignite our fire and our love for you! Be our #1 desire!!
Here are a few scriptures about our desires! Be encouraged!
- Psalm 145:16 Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.
- Psalm 38:9 Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee.
- Proverbs 11:23 The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath
Being righteous(we are the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus by faith), having good desires that line up with God, and delighting ourselves in God is a set up to have our desires fulfilled. Lift up your head and be encouraged about the desires that you think about most. God sees. God hears. God gives. God grants. God is a good good Father!
Recognize that God gives us desires, understand that He is the One who fulfills what He gave us, prepare, and expect!
Can I say another thing???
No matter what….God is still God!
